To provide training for home visiting staff to identify and address the legal needs and rights of clients, create opportunities for sharing city-wide resources, and foster systemic advocacy and collaboration on initiatives to improve family supports citywide.

Overview

The interdisciplinary Nursing-Legal Partnership (NLP) program of the Nurse-FamilyPartnership embeds legal aid into home visiting services with the goal of improving health outcomes for at-risk pregnant and parenting women. Attorneys train and collaborate with public health nurses to identify and address unmet legal needs that harm family stability and well-being.

Accomplishments

Implemented a 3-part education series for maternal and child health partners on supporting patients with unmet legal needs.

NFP was able to educate 85 total attendees.
